A popular seaside resort in Kent, Margate is also home to the famous Hornby company, makers of Hornby Railways, Scalextric motor racing, Airfix construction kits and Corgi die-cast models. Although most production is now done in China, Hornby still have their warehouses and offices here, and it would be a surprise to find a Margate toy shop that doesn’t sell some of their products.
The traditional town centre has an interesting mix of independent shops and chain stores, with a larger than usual number of gifts shops owing to the influx of seasonal summer visitors. This includes Fun Thinking in Gloucester Avenue that sells a few toys and plenty of gifts.
