There's much more to Swindon than it's interesting solutions to traffic congestion and the fact that it was the birthplace for Melinda Messenger, Mark Lamaar and Diana Dors. As well as its terrific location on the M4 corridor and major employers (including Honda, Motorola and Zurich) Swindon has a good selection of tourist attractions and recreational facilities.
Swindon is particularly well regarded for it's shops... Visitors are encouraged to 'shop till they drop' at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet that consists of over 100 designer-label shops. Visitors that are looking for a more traditional selection of shops should head for the Old Town where the quirky, specialist shops (together with an olde-worlde feel) make for a great shopping experience.
Within a few miles of Swindon is the bustling market town of Marlborough. It has the widest High Street in Southern England and is particularly well known for its traditional shopping experience. This town is home to number of fine retailers, including the independent Ducklings Toy Shop.
This children's toy shop sells a wide range of toys and games for all ages.
