14th July 2012 saw the unveiling of a completely revamped toy department (famously known as Toy Kingdom) that was designed by interior design specialists, Shed, to take retail entertainment to a whole new level. Three years in the making, the project is reported to be one of the most expensive ever undertaken by Harrods' owners.

Visit Harrods Toy Kingdom and you will come face-to-face with a 26,000 sq ft magical wonderland of surprises, action, theatre and noise; quite unlike anything you'll have seen before. Six different "worlds" will each bombard you with a smorgasbord of visual, aural and tactile delights.

Jugglers, acrobats and magicians are on hand to entertain you with the latest hands-on toys, whilst real trees, space pods, wigwams and yurts are used with incredible effect to display toys in a way rarely seen before.

If this all sounds a bit much (and parents may well despair at the potential for their wallets and purses to be severly rinsed by the end of the shopping trip) just take a trip there yourself and marvel at a slice of retail genius that could yet prove to be the poster-child for the High Street starting to think outside the [toy]box.
