Game On was established in Church Street, Saffron Walden in 1997 and moved to larger premises in the High Street in 2000 to accommodate a larger selection of stock.
In the beginning it specialised in video games for PCs and consoles such as Nintendo 64, PlayStation and Saturn, also selling custom built PC systems. They have taken all major console releases since then and have a range of games both new and pre-owned for XBOX, PlayStation and Nintendo console formats.
In 2009 they joined the Toymaster group and have expanded their toy ranges and now stock all of the big toy brands including LEGO, Playmobil, Pokémon, Schleich, Games Workshop and TOPModel.
Game On has in-store gaming every Sunday. Here gamers can learn to play and paint their models in a safe and friendly environment. Sunday gaming is important as they believe that playing great games and having fun keeps its customers coming back, they have a lot of regular Magic The Gathering and Games Workshop gamers who play every week who have formed their own gaming communities. During the first Lockdown they relaunched their website allowing them to reach more customers during a difficult time, they have the facility for pre-ordering new games and also Click & Collect for their local customers.
The business closes for just three days a year: Christmas Day, New Years Day and Easter Sunday.
