As part of the English Riviera, this coastal town's economy has always been largely based around tourism. This does not mean that it lacks shopping opportunities however, as the town's main shopping streets of Winner Street, Torbay Road and Victoria Street, continue to offer locals and visitors an eclectic range of interesting shops - several of which sell toys, gifts and gadgets.
Toy Town in Hyde Road is a well laid out toy shop that sells to children from birth to around twelve years old. Jigsaw puzzles, novelty items, pocket money toys, preschool electronics and games are just part of the range on offer here. Railway enthusiasts make for Mind The Gap Model Shop in Torquay Road. In addition to a great model railway section, they also have construction kits for almost any age group.
