As a joint initiative of the British Toy and Hobby Association (BTHA) and the Toy Retailers Association (TRA), the Approved Lion Mark Retailer Scheme was launched in 1991. The green symbol that features the Lion Mark logo and the slogan "toy safety first" can be used by Members of the TRA to shows that they only sell toys and other baby products that conform to EN 71, the legal requirement for all toys sold within the Euopean Union.
Toy Retailer Association members are allowed to display the green Approved Lion Mark Retailer symbol in their shops, although this does not mean that every item within the shop will also carry the Lion Mark. What it does show, is that the retailer is selling products that have met the Toy Safety Standard.
